Victorian progress!

My progress! Such that it is 8D

Really happy with how the stripes match here :D

Not so happy here. With the curved seam there, I need to decide where I really want it to match, cause its not going to match anywhere else. Ideas/suggestions?

There's meant to be another layer between the top and the stripey layer howeeeever..... I don't think I have enough fabric to do my original design. So I'm still mulling this over. One option is to take the blue drape and have it go over the stripey layer... think think think.
Also it looks like it really sticks out, the top, but I don't think it will since after I took this I just smoothed it and it lays much nicer now.

So most of this is just pinned, unfortunately.
Still deciding on the length of the blue drape, since I want to add knife pleats to the edge.

Less than two weeks to go!

It's Make It Work time!

:( I don't think I have time. What I wanted to make isn't appropriate for the cold weather anyway as a ballgown so I would still have to go shopping for proper fabric. I'm just going to see if I can dress up as a street urchin boy with Cindy XD I'll be playing photog though!

*Note to self, need to look for fabric and patterns for next time ^^;*

I knew this was gonna be shiny :)

I wish I had answers on the stripematching, though my inclination would be to focus on the gold edges bordering the striped parts and less on the little stripes. It seems to me that when the "big stripes" are off, it's more jarring than when the finer stripes are off, and not to mention more apparent from a distance.

Also, if you can't have matches all around, focus on the front matches. Side matches are probably going to spend a lot of time under your arms, unless you plan to have your hands in the air a lot.

That's what I triiiied to do, it didn't totally work.
I'm thinking about using my brown and putting a 1/4" piping along that seam or something, to somewhat mask that the seams don't totally match :/ baw
